Virginia Dale, nee Mayhall, Carr, 87, of Cahokia, Ill., born March 26, 1921 in Oxford, Miss., died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2009 at Rosewood Care Center, Swansea, Ill.
Virginia retired after 25 years as a first grade teacher at Penniman School, Cahokia, Ill. She was a member of Swansea Church, Swansea, Ill., and taught Sunday school class there. She was also a member of The World's Fair Society, St. Louis, Mo., and Daughter's of the American Revolution. She loved her family and the Lord.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert W. Carr; her grandchild, Lynn Carr; and her parents, Nathaniel and Wilder D., nee Brummett, Mayhall.
Surviving are her loving children, Robert W. (Cynthia) Carr Jr., of Cumming, Ga., John D. (Suzann) Carr of Belleville, Ill., and Ellen E. (Stephen Cobb) Carr of Cahokia, Ill.; grandchildren, David P. (Holli) Carr of Belleville, Ill., Jessica L. Carr of Belleville, Ill., and Elizabeth A. (fiance, Rob Huffman), Robert R., and William M. Carr all of Cumming, Ga.; two brothers, Nathaniel G. (Dorothy) Mayhall Jr., and David N. (Ollie) Mayhall of Mississippi; a sister, Emily (Joe) Thomas of Owensboro, Ky.; and a dear friend, Tammy Bleckler of Belleville, Ill.
Memorials may be made to the Swansea Church or the Swansea Food Pantry.
Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13, 2009, at Lake View Funeral Home, Fairview Heights, Ill.
Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, 2009, at Lake View Funeral Home, with Rev. Wilson Wickiser officiating. Interment will be held in Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, Ill.
