Walter "Red" Kuhn, 97, of Trenton, Ill., born Aug. 24, 1919 in Sugar Creek Twp., died Friday Nov. 11, 2016 at the Breese Nursing Home.

Red was a retired carpenter, and previously owned and operated Hi-Way Farm Supply in Trenton. U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII. Red was an avid Cardinal baseball fan, enjoyed bowling, playing cards, fishing and fish fries with his buddies.

Member of St. John United Church of Christ in Trenton, Carpenter's Local 662, Freeburg, Trenton Masonic Lodge 109 Trenton and past master, Shriner's MA-CLI-BO Circus Unit, Anaid Temple, Silver Lake Shriner's Club, Scottish Rite Mason, Worthy Patron of the Eastern Star, past school board member of the Wesclin School district

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Ellen, nee Montgomery, Kuhn Sr.; wife, Vera Rieger, whom he married Nov. 11, 1952 in Pocahontas, Ark., and who preceded him in death March 6, 2012; sister, Dorthea Kuhn; brother, Jim Kuhn; his-in-laws Ruth Kuhn and Dot Kuhn, Clint and Marian Rieger, Betty Korte.

Surviving are his children Jeanne (Russell) Heuberger of Highland, Margaret Ann "Mickey" (Mike) Williamson of Trenton, Deborah Kay (Daniel) Athmer of Aviston, Tom (Gaytha) Kuhn of Trenton; five grandchildren Stacy Heuberger, Keely Frey, Cory (Tricia) Williamson, Joshua Williamson, Rachel (friend Cody Finan) Kuhn; six great grandchildren Mia Heuberger, Briar Frey, Mara, Cade, Vera, Judah Williamson.

Memorials can be made MS Society, St. John United church of Christ, , Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be received at the visitation or through Moss Funeral Home, Trenton, who is serving the family. Expressions of sympathy can be sent to www.mossfuneralhome.com

Visitation: Friends may visit from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday Nov. 16, 2016 at St. John United Church of Christ in Trenton.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday Nov. 16, 2016 at St. John United Church of Christ in Trenton. With Rev. Mark Stryjak presiding. Burial in Trenton Cemetery.
