Dr. William J. Hufker, Jr., 82, born Jan. 28, 1934, died peacefully in his sleep, Thursday, July 14, 2016.
An organic chemist, his body was donated to St. Louis University where he received both his undergraduate and doctoral degrees. Bill held memberships in professional organizations and was active in his field until retirement.

Also surviving are many with whom he had long lasting friendships.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William J., and Christine, nee Heine, Hufker, Sr.
Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Virginia "Ginny", nee Treat, Hufker; his children, W. John Hufker III, Sheila (Greg) Hufker Tanck, and Teresa (Colby) Hufker Walloch; his four lively grandchildren, Evan and Bradley Tanck, and Lily and Mia Walloch, who kept the twinkle in his eyes; his siblings, Sister Rosemary Hufker, SSND PhD., and Dr. Geraldine Hufker, PhD. In addition he is survived by his sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law; nieces and nephews, whose companionship he thoroughly enjoyed throughout the years.
