William Joseph "Bill" McCunney, 85, of Madison, Ill., born Dec. 20, 1930, in Philadelphia, Pa., died Monday, July 4, 2016, at Charles Gardens, Fairview Heights, Ill.
William served in the United States Air Force from 1949 to 1952. He was a past-president of the Telephone Pioneers; and an AT&T Technician for 35 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jo, nee Moad, McCunney, whom he married on Feb. 11, 1950, in Edwardsville, Ill.; his parents, Joseph and Caroline, nee Rieck, McCunney; a brother, Mickey McCunney; and a sister, Caroline McCunney.
Surviving are his children, Wm. "Mick" (Zaida) McCunney of Livermore, Calif., Richard McCummey of Masquite, Nev., Steven (Kim) McCunney of Moro, Ill., Mary (Gerald) Sloan of Granite City, Ill., and Dorris Chapman of Belleville, Ill.; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Helen (Ed) Lutz of Seakcaine, Pa.

Visitation: Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, July 7, 2016, at Thomas Saksa Funeral Home, Granite City, Ill.
Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 7, 2016, at the funeral home, with Fr. Chris Comerford officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery, Glen Carbon, Ill.
