Retired U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. William M."Bill" Golightly, 90, of Collinsville, Ill., born April 14, 1926, in Portageville, Mo., passed away Saturday, Sept. 10, 2016, at Liberty Village, Maryville, Ill.
Bill was a Retired U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. He served his country faithfully in World War II, Korean War, Vietnam War and Turkey Civil War 58-59. He was a member of VFW Post 5691, Collinsville, Ill., and Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Collinsville, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Veronica "Vera" Golightly, nee Jones, whom he married Dec. 10, 1946, at St. Mary of the Sea Church, Fort Monroe, Va., and who died July 12, 2013; a daughter, Andrea Schardan; his parents, Randolph and Stella Marie, nee Mangrum, Golightly; and a sister, Blanch House.
Surviving are his son and two daughters, Maria (Chip) Durbin of Mesa, Ariz., Michelle (Paul) Howell of Collinsville, Ill., and Michael (Connie) Golightly of Collinsville, Ill.; grandchildren, Matthew, Jacob and Luke Schardan, Wayne and Alexander Howell, Ethan Wullener and Jennifer Baughman; two great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Schardan and Aly Baughman; a brother, Adolphus (Eva) Golightly of Flint, Mich., and Lela (Billy Joe) Phillips of Portageville, Mo.

Funeral: Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, 2016, at Herbert A. Kassly Funeral Home with Fr. John Beveridge officiating. Interment with full military honors will be in Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Collinsville, Ill.
