Joe Andrew Edwards, 77, of Collinsville, Ill., born on Feb. 12, 1936, in New Madrid, Mo., passed away at 11:36 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 9, 2014, at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, Ill.
He retired after more than 35 years of service as a machinist with National Vendors in St. Louis, Mo. Joe was a devoted and dedicated member of the Alpha & Omega Church in Collinsville, Ill. He joined Alpha & Omega in 1984 and has been an elder, a deacon, a dedicated servant of the Lord, and a father in the faith. He volunteered throughout the community through the State Park Food Pantry, which was a passion. Joe enjoyed fishing and was a loving husband, father and grandpa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe Harvey and Alice, nee Bisher, Edwards; a son, Danny Edwards; four brothers and a sister.
Surviving are his wife, Marie, nee Gulledge, Edwards, whom he married April 6, 1955; a son, Terry (Tammie) Edwards of Collinsville, Ill.; three grandchildren, Zachary, Erin and Breanne Edwards of Collinsville, Ill.; three sisters, Irene Shead of League City, Texas, Elizabeth Snell of Palistine, Texas and Linda (Gary) Cinnamon of Ariz.; a brother, Ray (Georgia) Hurley of Fenton, Mo.; numerous nieces and nephews; and his Alpha & Omega family.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014, at Alpha & Omega Church, 3301 Harvard Place, Collinsville, Ill.
Funeral: Celebration of Life service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014, at the church with the Rev. Ron Habermehl officiating. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery, Collinsville, Ill.
