G. "Don" Hoffmann

G. "Don" Hoffmann, 83, of Belleville, Ill., born Feb. 5, 1931, in East St. Louis, Ill., died Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014, at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, Ill.

Don was a livestock salesman for over 45 years and partner in John Clay and Company. He was the former president of the National Livestock Exchange. He was a graduate of Holy Angels Grade

School and Central Catholic High School in East St. Louis, Ill. Don was a U.S. Army Korean War veteran and was awarded the Purple Heart. He played baseball into his adult life, was a golfer and enjoyed fishing with his friends. Don was an avid reader and history buff.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Margie A., nee Bauza, Hoffmann who died January 6, 2014; his parents, Don and Marie, nee Carey, Hoffmann; his sister Catherine Hoffmann; mother in-law and father-in-law, Edward and Bonnie, nee Devan, Bauza; and brother-in-law, Edward Bauza, Jr.

Surviving are his sister, Susanne Hoffmann of Belleville, Ill.; his brother, Larry Hoffmann of Belleville, Ill.; his brother-in-law, James Bauza of St. Louis, Mo.; his nephew, Edward Bauza III; and his daughters, Brianna, Michaela and JoAnna Bauza, and their mother, Patricia Anderson, all of Belleville, Ill.

Visitation: Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 21, 2014 at Kassly Mortuary, Fairview Heights, Ill.

Funeral: Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 21, 2014, at Kassly Mortuary Chapel, Fairview Heights, Ill., with Father Clyde Grogan officiating. Per his request Don's body has been cremated and a private burial will be held at a later date in Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, Ill.
