Lucille L. Scheer, 90, formerly of St. Peter, Ill., passed away at 2:15 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014, in Shiloh, Ill., surrounded by her family.
Lucille was born on May 17, 1923 in St. Peter, the daughter of George and Ella, nee Borchelt, Schnake. She married Lawrence F. Scheer on Jan. 20, 1946, at St. Peter Lutheran Church. This union was blessed with three children: Sandra Ellen, James Lawrence and Beverly Kay.
Mrs. Scheer was baptized on May 27, 1923 by the Rev. A. F. Neuendorf. On March 21, 1937 she was confirmed by the Rev. F. J. Duecker at St. Peter's Lutheran Church. Lucille graduated from La Grove High School and attended college in St. Louis, Mo., and after graduation worked for a pharmaceutical firm in St. Louis, Mo. She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, St. Peter's Ladies Aid and L.W.M.L, American Legion Auxiliary and Town and Country Card Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Lawrence; son-in-law, Ray Lungwitz; brother, Elroy Schnake; sister-in-law, Louise Schnake; a sister and brother in infancy; and her great-granddaughter, Savannah Cobb.
Surviving are her son, James (wife, Linda) Scheer of Sullivan, Mo.; daughters, Sandra (husband, David) Radden of O'Fallon, Ill., and Beverly Lungwitz of Swansea, Ill.; six grandchildren, David Paul (Susan) Radden of O'Fallon, Ill., Scott(Ann) Radden of Belleville, Ill., Christine Presson of O'Fallon, Ill., Stacey (Shane) Calvert of Paris, Ill.,Shannon (Jason) Cobb of Mattoon, Ill., and Valerie (Ryan) Renaud of Belleville, Ill.; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Raymond (wife, Ruth) Schnake of Effingham, Ill.; sister-in-law, Thelma Moeller of St. Peter, Ill.; brother-in-law: Melvin Scheer of Effingham, Ill. and many nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the Zion Lutheran Church or the American Cancer Association.
Visitation: Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church in St. Peter, Ill.
Funeral: Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014, at the church with the Rev. William Emrick officiating. Burial will follow in St Peter Lutheran Cemetery, St. Peter, Ill.
