Boyd Meinders, 82, of Cahokia, Ill., born Sept. 8, 1931, in Metropolis, Ill., died Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at Jefferson Barracks VA Medical Center in St. Louis, Mo.
Mr. Meinders was a retired truck driver from Teamsters Local 600. He was a Korean War U.S. Army veteran. He was an avid fisherman and a dedicated St. Louis Cardinals fan.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Alice Meinders, nee Fowler; his parents, Noah and Mabel, nee Lange, Meinders; a brother, Cleo Meinders; and a son-in-law, Richard Proffer.
Surviving are his children, Marilyn Proffer of Dupo, Ill., Chris (Brenda) Meinders of East Carondelet, Ill., and Tim (Barb) Meinders of New Athens, Ill.; a sister, Lois Meinders of Paducah, Ky.; five grandchildren, Carla (Oakley), Chad, Michael, Matt, and Daniel; 10 great-grandchildren, Grant, Ethan, Dylan, Ethan, Gavin, Ashton, Madelyn, Katelyn, Edward, and Lukas. He was a dear brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, and friend.
The family of Mr. Meinders would like to offer special thanks to the doctors and nurses at John Cochran, Jefferson Barracks, and St. Louis University Hospitals for the care that they gave him.

Funeral: Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, March 10, 2014, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis County, Mo.
