Jean Jones

Jean C. Jones, nee Patterson, 82, of Belleville, Ill., born Saturday, Oct. 3, 1931, in Memphis, Tenn., died Saturday, March 15, 2014, at her residence in Belleville, Ill.

Jean retired as a Credit Manager for Golden Dipt. She was a member of Union United Methodist Church Belleville Ill., volunteered for the Beacon of Belleville, and Meals on Wheels. She was the past Secretary at the church and was volunteer of the year at Beacon of Belleville. She enjoyed hosting family holidays, gardening and casino hopping with her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Jones; parents, Marshall and Ella, nee Coffman, Patterson; and a sister, Shirley Gavrock.

Surviving are her children, Valorie (David) Toberman of Belleville, Ill., George "Howard" (Joyce) Young of Belleville, Ill., Mona (Steve) Bishop of Belleville, Ill., brothers, Marshall (Connie) Patterson of Memphis, Tenn., Ray (Rachael) Patterson of Nashville, Tenn., sisters, Juanita Sloan of Olive Branch, Miss., Virginia (Glynn) Herndon of Memphis, Tenn., grandchildren, Dustin (Michelle) Toberman, Daniel (Amie) Toberman, Mark (Chloe) Young, Kelly Young, Scott (Julie) Bishop, Lindsay (Michael) Hore, Brad Bishop, great-grandchildren, Jackson Toberman, Caroline Toberman, Seth Young, Darcie Young, Avery Hore; step-children, Cyndy Griffen, and Melissa Smith; step-grandchildren, Josh Witt, Jeremy (Betsy) Witt, Lauren Smith; two step- great-grandchildren, Lilly and Reagan Witt.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 20, 2014, at Kurrus Funeral Home, Belleville, Ill., and from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday, March 21, 2014, at Union United Methodist Church in Belleville, Ill.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 21, 2014, at Union United Methodist Church, with Rev. Ed Weston officiating. Interment will follow at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, Ill.
