Verne Tame Jr.

Verne "Chip" E. Tame Jr., 69, of Fairview Heights, Ill., born Jan. 17, 1945, in Lewiston, Maine died Thursday, March 27, 2014, at his residence.

Verne retired with the U.S. Air Force after 23 years of service. He worked at the Alton Belle managing their shuttle service. Chip built model airplanes and was a member of Midwest Airway R/C Club.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Chong Ae, nee Han, Tame; parents, Verne E. and Verna Mae, nee Trafford, Tame; and two sisters, Beverly Setteau and Joyce LeVesque.

Surviving are his children, Randy Y. Tame of North Charleston, S.C., Susan Y. (Kenneth) Graber-Kadel of Des Peres, Mo., and Verne E. "Ernie" (Ana) Tame of O'Fallon, Ill.; seven grandchildren, Chynna Tame, Myrisa Tame, Brandon Graber, Justin Graber, Hannah Tame, Alex Tame and Michael Tame; a sister, Helen (Leonard) Jepson of Ocala, Fla.; and nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 2, 2014, at Kassly Mortuary, Fairview Heights, Ill.

Funeral: A military graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 3, 2014, at Greemount Catholic Cemetery, Belleville, Ill.
