Dorothy Schubert

Dorothy Marie Schubert, nee Briscoe, 89, of Bridge City, Texas, born Dec. 27, 1924, in Lebanon, Ill., passed away Saturday, April 5, 2014.

Dorothy was a sweet and gentle soul with a great sense of humor and liked to tease and play jokes on everyone. She was an excellent speller, great with crossword puzzles and enjoyed playing scrabble. Dorothy enjoyed cooking and baking cobbler, and loved her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Ernest and Maude Elva, nee Walker, Briscoe; husbands, William Coleman and Robert Schubert; a brother, Charles Briscoe; and four sisters, Mabel Guttersohn, Inez Cobb, Calista Opal Stovall and Bernice Johnson.

Surviving are her sons, Jesse (Sunoki) Coleman, Harold (Margo)Coleman, Ronald (Renee) Coleman, and James (Ann) Coleman; a daughter, Cheri (Steve) Obernuefemann; and step-daughter, Evelyn (Dennis) Frieking; 23 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held in Port Arthur, Texas. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 11, 2014, at Mascoutah City Cemetery, Mascoutah, Ill., with Pastor Larry Blake officiating.
