Lorraine Boushard

Lorraine M. Boushard, 91, of Granite City, Ill., born Oct. 4, 1922, in St. Louis, Mo., passed away Monday, April 7, 2014, at Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City, Ill., with her family by her side.

She retired in 1986, after 24 years as cook in the Granite City School District #9. After her retirement she continued to be active working at Jim's Pawn Shop in Granite City, Ill., and volunteering at Barnes Hospital, St. Louis, Mo., and with Protestant Welfare, Granite City, Ill.

She joined Nameoki United Methodist Church in Granite City, Ill., in October 1954, and was an active member of the Loyalty Sunday School class.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell I. Boushard, whom she married Feb. 14, 1942; parents, Karl and Cecilia, nee Nestor, Knauer; a son-in-law, James "Louie" Longbottom; a great-granddaughter, Lindsay Davis; and a sister, June Twele.

Surviving are two daughters, Eileen Margaret (Claude) Davis of Granite City, Ill., and Joyce Ann Longbottom of Granite City, Ill.; two grandchildren, Paul Davis and Ruth McCormick; two great-grandchildren, Zachary and Christian; a sister, Jane Costello; and numerous nieces and nephews, and extended family members and friends.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday, April 10, 2014, at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road, Granite City, Ill.

Funeral: In celebration of her life, services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 11, 2014, at the funeral home with Pastor Harry Chronister and Pastor Tim Pate officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon, Ill..
