Alan N. Gilmore, 78 of Maryville, Ill., born Oct. 2, 1935, in Collinsville, Ill., passed away at 9:10 p.m. Saturday, April 5, 2014, at the Edwardsville Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility in Edwardsville, Ill.
Alan worked as an electrician for IBEW Local 309 and retired in 1998. Upon retiring, he worked as an usher for the St. Louis Cardinals. He was an Army veteran. Alan loved to golf, watch football, and cheer on his St. Louis Cardinals. He loved his beloved canine companions, Duffy and Tess, and enjoyed traveling with his wife, Joy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Dorothy Oletha, nee Hilgemeyer, Gilmore; a brother, Donald Gilmore; and a niece, Leighann Gilmore.
Surviving are his wife, Joy, nee Beard, Gilmore, whom he married on June 18, 1969; a brother, Jack (Patricia) Gilmore of Collinsville, Ill.; two sister-in-laws, Phyllis Jean (James) Cook of Imperial, Mo., and Lucille Gilmore of Orange Park, Fla.; beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and friends.

Funeral: Due to a family illness, a memorial service will be held at Barry Wilson Funeral Home, 2800 North Center Street, Maryville, Ill., at a later date, to be provided. Inurnment with military honors will be held at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, Mo.
