Lois Steiner

Lois L. Steiner, 79, of Pocahontas, Ill., born Oct. 20, 1934, in Marine, Ill., passed away at 4:46 a.m. Friday, April 11, 2014, at Carlyle Health Care Center in Carlyle, Ill.

Mrs. Steiner was born and reared in Marine, Ill. She worked at the Marine Garment Factory. After marriage she and her husband lived on a farm East of Grantfork. After her children were reared she worked six years at Hitz Memorial Home in Alhambra. She was an excellent cook, liked to bowl, attended the local and state fairs and in her younger years she and her husband enjoyed dancing. She enjoyed playing cards with her siblings. She was a St. Louis Cardinals Baseball fan.

She was a member of Grantfork United Church of Christ, Grantfork, Ill., Women's Guild of the church, Adam & Eve Club of the church, Madison County Home Extension, and past member of the Chancel Choir and Ladies Choir of the church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl L. and Lorraine I., nee Thurnau, Gause Sr.; sisters, Betty Lou Balke and Norma Gene Gause; and a brother, Carl L. Gause Jr.

Surviving are her husband, Vernon L. Steiner, whom she married on Nov. 20, 1955, in Grantfork E. & R. Church; three daughters, Lynda M. (Lincoln) Brill of Indianapolis, Ind., Brenda J. (Ernie) Priesmeyer of Millersburg, Ill., and Annette A. (Kent) Ambuehl fo Sorento, Ill.; son, Ocie K. (Indira) Steiner of Prairietown, Ill.; grandchildren, Emily A. (Solomon) Brown of Streamwood, Ill., Rebecca M. Brill of Indianapolis, Ind., James T. Ambuehl of Greenville, Ill., Adam T. Brill of Indianapolis, Ind., Andrew L. Brill of Indianapolis, Ind., Hope L. Brill of Indianapolis, Ind., Peter R. Brill of Indianapolis, Ind., Ian B. Steiner of Prairietown, Ill, and Orissa G. Steiner of Prairietown, Ill.; sisters, Carladine Vulliet of Highland, Ill., Jacqueline (Henry) Potthast of Highland, Ill., and Jane E. Landolt of Highland, Ill.; and brothers, James W. (Stacy) Gause of Sesser, Ill., and Fred W. (Leann) Gause of Anclaron, S.C.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 14, 2014, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home, Highland, Ill., and 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2014, at Grantfork United Church of Christ, Grantfork, Ill.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2014, at Grantfork United Church of Christ with Rev. Tim A. Darmour officiating. Interment will be in Grantfork United Church of Christ Cemetery, Grantfork, Ill.
