Judy Gail Laughlin of Belleville, Ill., born March 9, 1941, in Festus, Mo., passed from this life on Thursday, April 10, 2014, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Belleville, Ill.
Before retiring in 2004, Ms. Laughlin was an English teacher in St. Louis County for 40 years. She was a member of the National Education Association, the University of Illinois Alumni Association, Alpha Chi Omega Sorority, Shiloh Valley Camping Club, and the Carlyle Sailing Association. She attended Christ United Methodist Church in Fairview Heights and leaves this life with faith firmly rooted in the love and compassion of Jesus.
Ms. Laughlin was preceded in death by her parents, Clinton Morly and Martha Elizabeth, nee Marlow, Laughlin; a brother, Charles C. Laughlin; and aunts, Lucille Lefevre and Helen St. Clair.
Surviving are loved ones, Charles "Randy" Monaghan and his children, Lesa (Keith) Sipnick of Naples, Fla., Angela Moore of Battle Creek, Mich., and Brian (Melissa) Monaghan of Pottersville, Mich., and his grandchildren, Tori, Kayla, Parker, and Arianna Monaghan, Brice and Dillon Moore, Emily and Noah Sipnick; her nephews, G. Charles (Judy) Laughlin and son, Michael Laughlin and Mark E. Laughlin; sister-in-law, Marianna Andersson; half aunt and uncle, Joan and Robert Perry; and the rest of the Monaghan clan, cousins, and treasured friends.

Funeral: A memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at Valhalla-Gaerdner-Holten Funeral Home, with Rev Shane Bishop officiating. Interment of cremains will be at Methodist Cemetery in Festus, Mo.
