Geneva Butler, 90, of Granite City, Ill., born July 25, 1923, in Holland, Mo., passed away Sunday, April 27, 2014, at Anderson Hospital, Maryville, Ill.

Geneva was a devoted Christian and member of Central Christian Church and Christian Women's Fellowship - Lydia Circle at the church. She retired from Magna Bank as the safety deposit administrator after many years of dedicated service. Geneva was an avid Cardinal baseball fan, loved her animals and shopping at Wal-Mart. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her husband and the love of her life, William Carl Butler, whom she married April 19, 1942, and who preceded her on Nov. 7, 1997; parents, William and Mollie Beatrice, nee Jones, Ellis; two daughters, Cathy Shaffer and Carolyn Stamm; and a bother, Charles Ellis.

Surviving are her two loving children, William "Billy" Butler of Diana, Texas, and Carlene Hutchison of St. Peters, Mo.; dear grandchildren, Roland (Murl) Niederkorn of Mitchell, Ill., Rhonda Niederkorn of Granite City, Ill., Alysia Butler of Diana, Texas, Lauren Shaffer of Chicago, Ill., Scott (Stephanie) Hutchinson of Concord, N.C., and Jeff (Kristie) Hutchinson of St. Peters, Mo.; two brothers, Kenneth Ellis and Parker Worrell both of Little Rock, Ark.; six great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and extended family and friends.

Memorial donations may be given to the Central Christian Church, and will be accepted at the funeral chapel.

Visitation: Friends may call from 9 until 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road, Granite City, Ill.

Funeral: In celebration of her life, funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at Irwin Chapel with Pastor Derrell Brame III officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Hill Memorial Estates, Glen Carbon, Ill.
