Robert L. "Rob" Schroeder, 58, of Cahokia, Ill., born Sept. 7, 1955, in Sparta, Ill., passed away Sunday, April 27, 2014, at his residence.
Rob lived most of his life in the house in Cahokia. He was a quiet child because he was raised to be seen and not heard. His first grade teacher wrote on his report card that he had the mind of a Cadillac. This statement proved true throughout his school years at Cahokia, culminating to a ninth place ranking in his class of 1973. As a youngster in 1966, he learned about the prospect of living forever in a paradise earth from the Bible as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. He cherished that hope and shared it with others from then on. Even in the hospital, days before his death, he shared comforting scriptures with his bedside roommate.
Rob was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Mary, nee Mason, Schroeder; and two brothers, Albert-Elwin and Roland Schroeder.
Surviving are his wife of 40 years, Sherry, nee Koller, Schroeder; three sons, Lance (Lauren), Larry (Mary), and Stanley (Lindsey) Schroeder; three grandsons, Blake, Christopher and Trenton Schroeder; a granddaughter, Scarlett Schroeder; three brothers, Rory, Ronnie and Rodney Schroeder; and a sister, Nancy Prince. He was a dear son-in-law, brother-in-law, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend.
Funeral: Rob wished to be cremated and a memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 3, 2014, at the Dupo Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1490 Falling Springs Road, Dupo, Ill.
