Raymond F. Brumitt, 79, born Sunday, Jan. 20, 1935, in Edwardsville, Ill., passed away peacefully on Monday, May 12, 2014, at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, Ill.
Raymond graduated from Edwardsville High School in 1952, and Greenville College in 1956, with a degree in biology. After graduation, he was employed by Granite City Steel, Granite City, Ill., and later in life as a pharmaceutical salesman. He was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church, Edwardsville, Ill. Raymond was happiest when he could spend time with his brothers. He was an avid Cardinal's fan, and was proud to wear his Cardinal's hat.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert L. and Hazel, nee Spangler, Brumitt.
Surviving are a son, Greg Brumitt of Edwardsville, Ill.; three brothers, Robert W. (Marge) Brumitt of Wilmette, Ill., Richard S. (Barbara) Brumitt of Doniphan, Mo., and Roland L. (Vicki) Brumitt of Fairview Heights, Ill.; dear nieces, and nephews.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois, St. John's United Methodist Church, Edwardsville, Ill., or St. Matthew's United Methodist Church, Belleville, Ill.
Visitation: Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, May 16, 2014, at Kurrus Funeral Home, Belleville, Ill.
Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, May 16, 2014, at Kurrus Funeral Home, with Rev. James Slone officiating. Private interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Edwardsville, Ill.
