Frieda Newberry, nee Christoff, 90, of Shiloh, Ill., formerly of East St. Louis, Ill., born Nov. 30, 1923, in St. Louis, Mo., died Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at Relais Bonne Eau, Edwardsville, Ill.
Frieda worked as a riveter for McDonnell-Douglas Aircraft St. Louis, Mo., until she met her future husband. She then became a homemaker and enjoyed dancing, bingo, bowling and softball. Frieda and her husband together enjoyed playing cards, Senior Olympic competitions and fishing.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Newberry; her parents, Elia and Theresia, nee Urban, Christoff; two brothers, Bill Christoff and Ed Christoff; and a sister, Millie Worthington.
Surviving are her daughters, Jacqueline Dubro of Belleville, Ill., Theresa (Dick) Moore of Smithton, Ill., and Nancy (Bill) Drum of Bonita Springs, Fla.; her grandchildren, Rich Moore, Sandra Ballingall, John Dubro, Laura Miller and David Drum; and her three great-grandchildren, Karen Moore, Nathan Miller and Henry Miller.
