Edna Mollet

Edna M. Mollet, nee Gilomen, 90, of Highland, Ill., born Aug. 13, 1923, in Highland, Ill., passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at Faith Countryside Homes/Faith Care Center in Highland, Ill.

Mrs. Mollet was born and grew up in Deck's Prairie, Northwest of Highland. She attended Giger Country School and lived on her family's home farm all of her life. She graduated from Highland High School in 1941. Edba worked at Danche's Egg Factory for three years and then at Highland Machine and Screw for one and a half years. She married Gerald E. Mollet on Dec. 4, 1945. She and her husband operated a grain and livestock family farm. Mrs. Mollet enjoyed quilting, cooking, and she raised her four sons by living off the farm (gardening and canning). She also taught Bible School at her church and enjoyed helping the Women's Guild with tours and funeral lunches for many years.

Edna was a member of Evangelical United Church of Christ, Highland, Ill., the National Farm Organization and an honorary member of the Women's Guild of the Church (she was secretary for over 10 years).

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald E. Mollet, who died May, 28, 2000; parents, Edgar N. and Sophia H., nee Ims, Gilomen; and a brother, Jerold J. Gilomen.

Surviving are her sons, Wayne A. (Trudy A.) Mollet of Highland, Ill., David L. (Angelina "Angie") Mollet of Highland, Ill., Dale W. (Karen E.) Mollet of Troy, Ill., and Eldon R. (Wendy S., DVM) Mollet of Alton, Ill.; grandchildren, Lynn A. (David) Rivas, II of Highland, Ill., Lanna K. Mollet of Houston, Texas, Lisa M. (T. Andy) Lalor of Edwardsville, Ill., Gary W. (Melissa) Mollet of Trenton, Ill., Benjamin D. (Valerie) Mollet of Highland, Ill., Mary E. (Wesley) Harris of O'Fallon, Ill., Emily M. Sigman of Belleville, Ill., Katherine J. (Bryan L.) Bastilla of Highland, Ill., Adam R. (Megan D.) Mollet of Highland, Ill., and Sara A. (Timothy R.) Duncan of Highland, Ill.; 14 great-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; and her sister, Kathleen L. (Earl "Pete") Ritter of St. Jacob, Ill.

Memorial contributions may be made to Evangelical United Church of Christ, Heartland Hospice or charity of donor's choice.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 26, 2014, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, Ill., and 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2014, at Evangelical United Church of Christ in Highland, Ill.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2014, at Evangelical United Church of Christ with Rev. Christopher W. Hill officiating. Interment will be at Highland City Cemetery in Highland, Ill.
