Clifford Asselmeier

Clifford C. Asselmeier, 90, of Waterloo, Ill., born Sept. 3, 1923, in Fults, Ill., passed away Saturday, May 31, 2014, in Creve Coeur, Mo.

Mr. Asselmeier was a member of Concord Presbyterian Church PCA - Waterloo, Deacon Emeritus, life member of Valmeyer American Legion Post 901, life member of Waterloo VFW Post 6504, DAV, Shriners, Scottish Rite, and former mayor of Valmeyer. He retired from Navy Brand Manufacturing Company and was a U.S. Coast Guard World War II veteran.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen I., nee Klein, Asselmeier; his parents, Carl W. and Anna, nee Fischer, Asselmeier; and a brother, Carl "Bob" Asselmeier.

Surviving are children, Charles C. (Mary) Asselmeier, John R. (Jane) Asselmeier, Joseph R. (Judith) Asselmeier and Kimberly H. (Dale) Sylvan; grandchildren, Melissa M. (Rob) Roessler, Christina C. (Scott) Purtell, Andrew J. (Samantha) Asselmeier, Aaron J. Asselmeier, Rachel L. Sylvan and Hannah K. Sylvan; great-grandchildren, Trey and Tanner Roessler and Jack and James Purtell; brothers, Clinton and Darryl (Janet) Asselmeier; sisters-in-law, Alice Asselmeier and Helen Meillier; and nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorials may be made to the Concord Presbyterian Church PCA, Waterloo.

Visitation: Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 2, 2014, at Quernheim Funeral Home, Waterloo, Ill., and 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 3, 2014, at Concord Presbyterian Church PCA, Waterloo, Ill.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 3, 2014, at Concord Presbyterian Church PCA, with Pastor Andrew Cheatham officiating. Burial will be at St. John Cemetery, Valmeyer, Ill.
