Major John M. Bertram, 68, of O'Fallon, Ill., born Oct. 30, 1945, in Greensburg, Pa., passed away at home.
Maj. Bertram served in the United States Air Force for 24 years. He continued his career as fire protection engineer for Florist Mutual Insurance of Edwardsville, Ill., and later with the Insurance Services Organization. He retired early, enjoying life to the fullest, traveling, presiding as chaplain of his local OFBDC and exercising regularly at the O'Fallon YMCA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Elizabeth, nee Porter, Bertram.
Surviving are his loving wife of 44 years, Ilene O., nee Reed, whom he married on Sept. 14, 1969; his son, John M. Bertram of Bethalto, Ill.; his daughter, Wendy A. Bertram Annear (James) of England; two brothers, James E. Bertram of Greensburg, Pa., and William R. (Emma) Bertram of McMechan, W.Va.; and numerous other friends and relatives.
