Harry F. Brinkman, Jr., 66, of Belleville, Ill., died Sunday, June 15, 2014. He was born Aug. 8, 1947, son of Harry and Elizabeth, nee Matzenbacher, Brinkman, who preceded him in death. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter's United Church of Christ in Okawville, Ill.
Mr. Brinkman is survived by his special friend, Margaret Meyer and the Meyer family. Also surviving are a sister, Doris and her husband, Fred Thurmond, of Salem, Ill.; a niece, Elizabeth Thurmond of Hillsboro, Ill.; and aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and neighbors.
Harry worked in the restaurant service industry for many years including the Original Springs Restaurant in Okawville, Miss Hullings Cafeteria, and Country Buffet in Fairview Heights.
Harry's passions were cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals and finding the greatest hamburger ever. He was a front row fixture at area high school and college basketball games. He enjoyed working at Art on the Square and following Drum and Bugle competitions. He loved dressing as Santa and the Easter Bunny for friends and family.
In lieu of flowers, the families ask that donations be sent to Hospice of Southern Illinois for their care and compassion during his illness.

Funeral: Cremation rites will be performed and the scattering of his ashes will take place at a later date.
