Loraine Lewis

Loraine Hunt Lewis, 84, of Belleville, Ill., born July 21, 1929, in Detroit, Mich., passed away Wednesday, June 18, 2014, in Belleville, Ill., surrounded by her family.

Loraine was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, kind and generous to all who knew her. She loved cooking, reading, shopping, and spending time with her loved ones. She was an active member of Peace Lutheran Church in Belleville, Ill., as well as an avid bowler and golfer. Over the years, Loraine participated in the Tuesday evening bowling league at Bel-Air Bowl, the Wednesday Ladies' League at Yorktown Golf Course, the Wednesday Ladies' Golf League at St. Clair Country Club, and the ladies' league at Tamarack. She was very proud of her two "holes-in-one", both at Yorktown Golf Course.

Loraine was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Katherine, nee Zielinski, Hunt; her sister, Joann Westermeier; and two daughters, Kay Lewis Kalotek and Gale Ann Lewis.

Surviving are her husband of 59 years, George A. Lewis; her son, George "Butch" (Ann) Lewis; stepdaughters, Clara McClure and Susanne (Lou) Colone; her nine grandchildren, Ashley (Andrew) Langenstein, Rachel Lewis, Clay Lewis, Cole Lewis, Tricia Lindley, Chris Curtis, Leah Baker, Michelle Douglas, and Jason McClure; 12 great-grandchildren, Devin Compton, Victoria Langenstein, Myah and Madison Lindley, Sydney, Dane, and Sophie Daniel, Addison Collins, Canyon Smith, Mazdyn Douglas, and Caroline Curtis; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 22, 2014, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, Ill.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 23, 2014, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, Ill., with Rev. Dr. Bill Pierce officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, Belleville, Ill.
