David Bennett Sr.

Retired U.S. Air Force Capt. David Bennett Sr., 61, of Belleville, Ill., born June 15, 1953, in Niagara Falls, N.Y., died Wednesday, July 9, 2014, at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, Ill.

David graduated with a master's degree from Webster University in human resources. He retired as a weather forecaster and was a captain in the United States Air Force with 20 years of service. He loved bowling and camping. He was a member of the VFW in Collinsville, formally Fairview Heights, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Bennett; and his sister, Beverly Chamrad.

Surviving are his wife, Linda Bennett, nee Stark; his children, Eric Bennett, David (Angie) Bennett, Jr., and Trisha (Stephen) Cleveland; his grandchildren, Stephen Allan (Courtney) Bennett, Angela Bennett, Stephen Michael Cleveland, Sarah Bennett, Elizabeth Ritchey-Bennett, Johnathan Cleveland and Breehannah Cleveland; his mother, Sondra Bennett, nee Wood; his siblings, twin brother, Richard (Kathy) Bennett, Dawn (Don) Sexton, Dennis Bennett and Kenny (Kathy) Bennett; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 14, 2014, at Kassly Mortuary, Fairview Heights, Ill. The VFW Honor Guard will be posted from 5 to 6 p.m. at the mortuary.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 15, 2014, at Kassly Mortuary Chapel, Fairview Heights, Ill., with Chaplain Jerry Joyce officiating. Interment will be in Jefferson Barracks Cemetery, St. Louis, Mo.
