Virgil Stogner

Virgil J. Stogner, Jr., 61, of Caseyville, Ill., born Oct. 29, 1952, in East St. Louis, Ill., died Sunday, July 13, 2014.

Virgil was a graduate of Collinsville High School and received his master's degree in business from Webster University in St. Louis, Mo. He was a member of St. Stephen's Catholic Church, a volunteer fireman for the Caseyville Fire Department and played baseball with the Fountain of Youth in Cahokia.

He was preceded in death by his father, Virgil J. Stogner Sr.; and a brother, Jeff Stogner.

Surviving are his wife, Josephine "Jo", nee Bone Stogner; his children, Virgil J. Stogner of Caseyville, Ill., Jenni DeFosset of Swansea, Ill., and Joe (NaHana) Stogner of Swansea, Ill.; grandchildren, Isabelle DeFosset, Hailey Stogner and Logan DeFosset; his mother, Gloria (George), nee Merritt, Poston; brother, Tom (Lora) Stogner of O'Fallon, Ill.; a sister, Carole (Scott) Hassall of Collinsville, Ill.; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 16, 2014, at Kassly Mortuary, Fairview Heights, Ill.

Friends may also call from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, July 17, 2014, at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, Caseyville, Ill.

Funeral: Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 17, 2014, at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, Caseyville, Ill., with Father Ray Schultz officiating. Interment of cremains will be in Valhalla Gardens of Memory, Belleville, Ill.
