Ethel S. Fouts, 93, of Granite City, Ill., born Jan. 7, 1921, in St. Louis, Mo., passed away at 9:17 p.m. Friday, July 25, 2014, at Stearns Nursing and Rehabilitation in Granite City.
Mrs. Fouts was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Granite City. She enjoyed her earlier years of traveling, fishing and roller skating. She will be remembered for the love and special times shared with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harold Leon Fouts, whom she married on Jan. 14, 1942, in Louisville, Ky., and who died Aug. 8, 1979; her parents, Frank and Ethel, nee Hennen, Pleimann; a brother, Norman Pleimann; and a sister, LaVerne Gonzalez.
Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Vickie Fouts of Granite City, Ill.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Dominic Vespa of Riverton, Ill., and Betty Ann and Leroy Welborn of Hollister, Mo.; eight grandchildren, Jennifer Fouts, Emily Fouts, Greg Vespa, Tony Vespa, Chris Vespa, Brian Welborn, Michael Welborn and Andrew Welborn; several great-grandchildren; and other extended family and friends.

Visitation: In celebration of her life, visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 28, 2014, at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City, Ill.
Funeral: A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 29, 2014, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Granite City with Father Chris Comerford as celebrant. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery in Lemay, Mo.
