Frances Wobbe

Frances M. Wobbe, nee Wilhelm, 91, of Belleville, Ill., born July 21, 1923, in Mascoutah, Ill., died Saturday, August 2, 2014, in Atlanta, Ga.

Mrs. Wobbe retired from St. Elizabeth's Hospital and had previously worked at St. Augustine School in the lunch program. A charter member of St. Augustine of Canterbury Parish, Frances was devoted to the parish. She was a member of the Queenship of Mary Sodality and a more than 50-year member of the St. Augustine Ladies Quilting Group, which made hundreds of quilts over the years for parish fundraising. She was also a member of the Belleville Senior Citizens and an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan. Frances was dearly loved and will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 28 years, Alvin G. Wobbe, whom she married on May 10, 1944, and who died on Nov. 23, 1972; a daughter, Linda Wobbe; her parents, Louis and Anna, nee Friedrich, Wilhelm; three brothers, Norbert (Emma Lee) Wilhelm, Richard Wilhelm, and Raymond Wilhelm; a sister, Dorothy (Donald) Billhartz; four brothers-in-law, Frank (Elsie) Wobbe, Herman (Louise) Wobbe, Aloys (Velma) Wobbe, and Victor (Betty) Wobbe; and two sisters-in-law, Kate (Al) Jansen and Ann (Everitt) Anderson.

Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Carol and James Tally of Atlanta, Ga.; two grandchildren, Kim (Scott) Kingsfield and James II (Virginia) Tally; six great-grandchildren, Katie, Will, and Ben Kingsfield, and Caroline, Carter, and Jacob Tally; two brothers-in-law, Vincent (Mary Jane) Wobbe of Belleville, IL, and Robert (Freda) Wobbe of Caseyville, Ill.; and many nieces and nephews.

The Wobbe family would like to offer special thanks to the staffs at Dogwood Forest Assisted Living and Unihealth Brookhaven Rehab Center in Atlanta for their dedicated and loving care.

Funeral: A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 9, 2014, at St. Augustine's with Msgr. William McGhee officiating. Burial will follow at Lake View
