Doris Blondell Carney, 84 of Granite City, Ill., born Jan. 1, 1930, in Bells, Tenn., passed away on Tuesday, August 5, 2014, in Moro, Ill., surrounded by her family.
She was a life long homemaker , and mother. She was a member of New Life Christian Fellowship Church in Granite City, Ill. Blondell had a heart of gold and always thought of others needs before her own. She enjoyed singing and forwarding emails on her computer. She gave countless hours to her church helping out in whatever needed to done. She loved baking and decorating cakes and was known by all who knew her as the "Cheese Cake Queen". She will be remembered for all the special times she shared with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband; Charles F. "Tod" Carney, whom she married on Sep. 7, 1950; two sons, Dane Carney, and Mike Carney; her parents LeRoy and Christine, nee, Mallory, Rigsby; a sister, Joyce Humphrey; and a brother, Louis Rigsby.
She is survived by and will be missed by her son; Christopher (Denise) Carney of Moro, Ill.; a daughter, Darla (Dennis) Harper of Bethalto, Ill.; grandchildren, Mike(Lisa) Carney, Joe (Amanda) Carney, Angela Yarbrough, Dane Carney, Ryan Nichols, Morgan Carney, Mathew Carney; great-grandchildren, Tyler Carney, Heather Carney, Brooke Carney, and Lucas Yarbrough; and a brother, Dennis Rigsby.

Visitation: Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, August 8, 2014. at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road, Granite City, Ill.
Funeral: In Celebration of Life Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 9, 2014, at the funeral home with Pastor Jeff Smith and "Her Man" Earl Hagy officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon, Ill.
