Eileen Flake

Eileen Lydia Flake, nee Towers, 89, of Palm Coast, Fla., formerly of East St. Louis, Ill., born Feb. 7, 1925, in Essex County, England, passed away Thursday, July 31, 2014, in Florida.

Eileen was a dedicated volunteer at VFW Post 8696 auxiliary at Flagler Beach Senior Center. She was an avid Mahjong player and loved to dance.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis E. Flake, her United States Army sweetheart; her son, Lawrence M. Flake; and her parents, Alfred and Mae Towers.

Surviving are her children, Glenn (Tawonna) Flake of Newnan, Ga., Diane Brennan of Ft. Collins, Colo., Irene (Ed) Blake of Belleville, Ill., Cathy Barr of Palm Coast, Fla., Maureen Senkowsky of Palm Coast, Fla.; her grandchildren, Jennifer Flake, Alison (Roland) Brennan Carroll, Jeffrey Brennan, Heather (David) Blake Berkley, Alexandra Blake, Edward J. Blake, III, "Jay" Ryan Barr, Brittany Barr, Rachel Senkowsky Ishii; Casey Senkowsky and Louis Senkowsky, and four great-grandchildren; her brother-in-law, Bob Flake; her sisters-in-law, Elaine Elrod and Rose Bennett; and numerous nieces, nephews and special friends, Barbara Benson, and Dorothy Sandor. She was a dear grandmother, aunt, and friend to all. We will always carry your memory and love in our hearts.

Visitation: Friends may call from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 16, 2014, at Blessed Sacrament Church, Belleville, Ill.

Funeral: A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 16, 2014, at the church, with Fr. Matthew Elie and Fr. Jack Mc Evilly officiating.
