Dusan Gagich

Dusan, "Dule" Gagich, 87, of Granite City, Ill., born Dec. 9, 1926, in Madison, Ill., passed away Thursday, Aug. 14, 2014, at Gateway Medical Center in Granite City, Ill.

Dule was of the Serbian Orthodox faith and was a World War II United States Army veteran who proudly served his country. On Feb. 27, 1963, Dule married Dorothy Dale in Granite City, Ill. He was a patrolman, detective and a juvenile officer with the Granite City Police Department for 32 years of dedicated service. Dule enjoyed jazz and playing the drums with his friends at various restaurants in the metro area and was an avid Chicago Bears fan. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends. Dule will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bogdon and Kristina, nee Dukich, Gagich; his sister, Helen Gagich; and his brother, John Gagich.

Surviving are his loving wife, Dorothy Gagich of Granite City, Ill.; his daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Sam Rongey of Ballwin, Mo.; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Cindy Gagich of Granite City, Ill.; grandchildren, Chris Rongey, Nathan Gagich and Ian Gagich; and extended family and friends.

Visitation: Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 18, 2014, at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road, Granite City, Ill.

Funeral: In celebration of his life, funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2014, at Irwin Chapel, Granite City, Ill., with Father Jeff Holtman officiating. Interment will be in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Mo.
