Stephen J. Sandor, 88, of Belleville, Ill., formerly of East St. Louis, Ill., born Oct. 4, 1925, in East St. Louis, Ill., died Sunday, Aug. 24, 2014, at Sycamore Village, Swansea, Ill.
Stephen retired as a machine operator for Obear-Nester Glass. He will always be remembered for wearing a "bow tie" and his favorite hobby of fishing. He was a World War II Marine veteran.
He was preceded in death by a son, Philip Sandor; a daughter, Janice E. Sandor; his parents, Stephen T. and Caroline, nee Pricic, Sandor; and his brothers, Henry Sandor and Joseph Sandor.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothy J., nee Schmidt, Sandor; daughters, Stephanie (Michael) Kurtz of O'Fallon, Ill., and Paula (John) Vogler of Belleville, Ill.; and grandchildren, Ryan Kurtz, Sarah H. Kurtz and Phillip Vogler.
The family would like to thank the staff of Sycamore Village for their loving care and compassion.

Visitation: Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2014, at Cathedral of St. Peter, 200 West Harrison Street, Belleville, Ill.
Funeral: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2014, at St. Peters Cathedral, Belleville, Ill., with Father John Myler officiating. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Fairview Heights, Ill.
