Glen Flaugher

Glen Flaugher, 80, of Maryville, Ill., formerly of Granite City, Ill., born Sept. 23, 1932, in Miller County, Mo., was called to be with Jesus at 10:36 a.m. Thursday June 13, 2013, at Relais Bonne Eau Hospice Home in Edwardsville, Ill.

Glen married Delores "Dee", nee Powers, Flaugher on Jan. 21, 1953, and celebrated 60 years of marriage earlier this year. Glen was a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Maryville for over 45 years, where, in his younger years, enjoyed going on mission trips. Glen was a Korean War Navy veteran. As a retired member of the Machinist Union, Glen was an electronic technician for 35 years at the former McDonnell Douglas in St. Louis, Mo. Glen enjoyed bowling and playing golf with Dee, fishing, and spending time with friends and family. Glen and Dee had spent the past 25 consecutive winter seasons visiting their winter home in Okaloosa Island, Fla.

Glen was preceded in death by his parents, Elbert H. and Mayme Opal, nee Ahart, Flaugher; daughters, Janet Lynn and Diane Renee' Flaugher; and brothers, Warren and Leroy Wayne Flaugher.

In addition to being survived by his wife, Dee, Glen is also survived by a son, Kevin (Karen) Flaugher of Maryville, Ill.; a daughter, Kim Flaugher of Fenton, Mo.; grandsons, Brian and Brad Hunziker of Maryville, Ill.; a brother, James (Vivian) Flaugher of Granite City, Ill.; a sister, Phyllis (Richard) Ficker of Granite City, Ill.; sister-in-law, Shirley Flaugher of Granite City, Ill.; numerous nieces and nephews; and lifelong friend, Del Tegtmeier of Maryville, Ill.

Visitation: Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, June 16, 2013, at Barry Wilson Funeral Home, 2800 North Center, Maryville, Ill.

Funeral: Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, June 17, 2013, at St. Luke's United Methodist Church, 6325 W. Main Street, Maryville, Ill., with the Rev. Sigurd Bjorklund officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery in Edwardsville, Ill.
