Loren Theobald

Loren E. Theobald, 84, of Belleville, Ill., born June 25, 1929, in Baldwin, Ill., died Thursday, July 4, 2013, at his residence.

Mr. Theobold was an operating engineer. He was a Korean War veteran. He was a member of Signal Hill Lutheran Church, Belleville, Ill., and was a member of VFW Post 7980, Millstadt, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Adam and Clara, nee Schaeffer, Theobald; seven brothers, Harold, Edgar, Edward, Ralph, George, Junior and Leland Theobald; three sisters, Lillian Bixby, Fern Kaesberg and June Zander; and a grandchild, Tommie Patricia Theobald.

Surviving are his wife, LaVonne, nee Junge, Theobald, whom he married Nov. 21, 1953, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Red Bud, Ill.; a son, Jeffrey (Patti) Theobald of Belleville, Ill.; a daughter, Janice (Dennis) Scharf of Millstadt, Ill.; six grandchildren, Meegan Winter, Lindsey Stroot, Alyssa Theobald, Jeffrey Theobald, Thomas Theobald and Trisha Scharf; six great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Memorials may be made to Signal Hill Lutheran Lutheran Church, St. John's Lutheran Church, or to VFW Post 7980, Millstadt, Ill.

Visitation: Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 7, 2013, at Koch-Liefer Funeral Home, Red Bud, Ill., and from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday, July 8, 2013, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Red Bud, Ill.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 8, 2013, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Red Bud, Ill., with the Rev. Mark Nebel, the Rev. Russell Koen, and the Rev. Jonathan Hemler officiating. Burial will be held in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Red Bud, Ill., with military honors.
