Harry Adolph Blank Jr., 90, of Collinsville, Ill., born on Sept. 29, 1922, in Flat Rock, Ill., died on Monday, July 29, 2013, at Rosewood Care Center, Swansea, Ill.
Mr. Blank was a retired electrician. He was a US Air Force World War II and Korean War veteran. He was a bomber pilot, during one of his missions he was shot down over Yugoslavia and was missing in action for eight months. He was member IBEW Local 309 Union.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Mildred, nee Schardan, Blank, whom he married on Sept. 14, 1942, in St. Charles, Mo., who died onNov. 29, 2006; two daughters, Faye Hannah Austin and Mary Jo Crone; two granddaughters, Stacy Carlton and Cynthia Crone; his parents, Harry A. and Ethel, nee Maddox, Blank Sr.; and a sister, Mary Frances Demby.
Surviving are a son, Harry A. (Myra) Blank II, of O'Fallon, Ill.; six grandchildren, Deborah Jo Rust of Belleville, Ill., Joseph Blank of O'Fallon, Ill., Donald Crone, Jodie Crone, Fred Cinlich and Faylynn Ingram all of Tennessee.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John Evangelical United Church of Christ, Collinsville, Ill.
Visitation: No visitation.
Funeral: Graveside services, with full military honors, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 1, 2013, at St. John Cemetery, Collinsville, Ill., with the Rev. Donald Crone officiating.
