Clara Schneider

Clara V. "Dolly" Schneider, nee Haefner, 99, of Belleville, Ill., born March 2, 1914, in Lenzburg, Ill., died Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, Ill.

Mrs. Schneider operated, with her husband, the former Schneider Bakery in Belleville, Ill. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Belleville, Ill., and St. Mary's Sodality. She was active in SWIC's P.S.O.P. (Programs & Services for Older Persons) and the Daughters of Isabella. Clara loved bowling and especially enjoyed being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene A. Schneider, whom she married in Belleville in 1935 and who died March 12, 1977; a son, Kent Schneider; her parents, Casper and Laura, nee Frazer, Haefner; and a granddaughter, Tracy Lynn Haukapp. The last of 13 children in her family, she was also preceded in death by seven brothers, Milton, Harry, Carl, Elmer, Melvin, Mervin, and Stanley Haefner; and five sisters, Ella Fredeking, Dorothy Goslik, Alice Burns, Edith Haefner and Joyce Newcom.

Surviving are her two sons, Roger (Becky) Schneider of Belleville, Ill., and Gary (Patricia) Schneider of Springfield, Ill.; four grandchildren, Mark Schneider, Kent Schneider, Brad (Amanda)Schneider, and Keith Schneider; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral: Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 2, 2013, at Green Mount Catholic Cemetery, Belleville, Ill., with Msgr. William McGhee officiating.
