John Case Sr.

John Ernest Case Sr., 83, of Cahokia, Ill., born March 24, 1930, in Bardwell, Ky., died Friday, Sept. 27, 2013, at his residence.

Mr. Case was retired from Vilberg Victor in St. Louis, Mo., and was a member of Boilermakers Local 27 of St. Louis. He was a U.S. Army Korean War veteran. John was a past deacon at the former First Christian Church of Cahokia, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sharrey Case; his parents, Ernest and Luella, nee Cash, Case; a brother, James "Peanuts" Case; and a sister, Marie DeBartolo.

Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Carolyn, nee Hall, Case; children, Shirley Greathouse of Belton, Mo., Linda Thomas of Salt Lake City, Utah, and John "Jay" (Sherri) Case of Cahokia, Ill.; six grandchildren, Melissa, Amity, Jessica, Kayla, Whitney and Brandon; and seven great-grandchildren, Katlyn, Keith, Kylie, Sydney, Wyatt, Mick and Emma. He was a dear brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30, 2013, at Braun Colonial Funeral Home, Cahokia, Ill.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30, 2013, at the funeral home. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2013, at Old Bardwell Cemetery, Bardwell, Ky.
