Geraldine E. Griggs, nee Bicz, 70, formerly of Trenton, Ill., born June 11, 1943, in Buffalo, N.Y., died Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013, at LifePath Hospice, in Sun City Center, Fla.
Gerry was a retired teacher. She attended McKendree College where she earned her degree. She was also an avid reader and enjoyed sitting out on her porch with a good book. Most importantly she was a wonderful wife, mother and friend.
She was preceded in death by her father, Stanley Bicz; her father-in-law, George B. Griggs; and a nephew, Christopher Griggs.
Surviving are her husband, Stanley R. Griggs; her daughters, Jennifer (Barry) Jackson and Jackie (Fred) Griggs; her mother, Mary Bicz; her mother-in-law, Myrtle Griggs; her sister, Marsha (Raul) Vargas; her brothers-in-law, Brad (Vera) Griggs and Tom (Anne) Griggs; her grandsons, Grant and Benjamin Jackson; and her nieces and nephews, Jason Vargas, Bryan Vargas, Jeff Griggs, Jill Griggs, and Kim Griggs,.

Visitation: Friends may call 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013, at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Lebanon, Ill.
Funeral: A celebration of life service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the church with the Rev. Dr. Donald Wagner officiating.
