Robert "Bob" Nichols, 84, of Collinsville, Ill., born March 15, 1929, in Collinsville, Ill., passed away Monday, Oct. 14, 2013, at Liberty Village, Maryville, Ill.
Bob was a retired mail carrier for the Collinsville Post Office. He was a U.S. Army Korean War veteran, a member of the 25th Infantry Division Association Tropic Lightning, member of VFW Post 5691, Collinsville, Ill., National Association Letter Carriers, and a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Collinsville, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marcile Irene Nichols, nee Cox, whom he married on Sept. 2, 1950, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Collinsville, Ill., and who died Feb. 27, 2009; his parents, George and Gertrude, nee Burg, Nichols; two brothers and two sisters, Arthur and Kenneth Nichols, Verna Bugger and Virginia Nichols.
Surviving are his sister, Jo Ann (Charles) Barger of Collinsville, Ill.; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
