Stanley Gaa

Stanley A. Gaa, 91, of Belleville, Ill., born April 1, 1922, in Belleville, Ill., died Friday, Jan. 17, 2014, at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, Ill.

Mr. Gaa retired from Hager Hinge Company, St. Louis, Mo., after 46 years of service. He was a member of the National Association of Purchasing Agents. Stanley was a member of Catholic War Veterans Butz Jobe Post 370. He was a World War II U.S. Air Force veteran. An avid golfer and gardener, Stanley was a former member of the T & T Golf League and the Rose Society.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Marie E., nee Hilpert, Gaa, whom he married on Aug. 25, 1945, and who died Nov. 8, 2008; a son, David Gaa; a daughter, Susan Seibert; his parents, Oscar and Edna, nee Hermanns, Gaa; a sister, Verdell Grimmer; and a brother-in-law, Clarence Vollmer.

Surviving are his son, Gerald D. (Carol) Gaa of Belleville, Ill.; his daughter, Dr. Sandra Gaa Cooper (Dr. Jerry Cooper) of Independence, Mo.; two grandchildren, Benjamin (Jessica) Moeller-Gaa and Andrew (Melissa) Gaa; two great-grandchildren, Mia and Karsten Gaa; and his sister, Dorothy Vollmer of Belleville, Ill.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 20, 2014, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, Ill., and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014, at St. Peter's Cathedral Catholic Church, Belleville, Ill.

Funeral: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014, at St. Peter's Cathedral with Msgr. John Myler officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, Ill.
