Henry Calbreath

Henry J. Calbreath, 90, of Collinsville, Ill., born Saturday, Jan. 19, 1924, in East St. Louis, Ill., died Saturday, March 1, 2014, at Granite City Nursing & Rehab Center in Granite City, Ill.

Henry worked as an insulator bricklayer for Union Electric. He also was a member of CenterPointe Church, in Collinsville, Ill. He was a U.S. World War II army veteran and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a life long member of Veteran's of Battle of the Bulge Club of Illinois and St. Louis Gateway chapter. Past president of Operating Engineers Retiree Club Local Union 148 and was an avid hunter, fisherman and Cardinals fan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Pearl, nee Fournie, Calbreath Sr.; sons, Thomas Calbreath and Timothy Calbreath in infancy; brothers, Edgar Calbreath, William J. Calbreath and Leroy Calbreath; sisters, Betty Lou Watson, Marie Proffer, Pearl Adele, Dolores Adele-Richards and June Gartland.

Surviving are his wife, Carol Jean Calbreath of Collinsville, Ill.; son, Gordon Calbreath of Granite City, Ill.; daughter, Gina (Ken) Martin of Glen Carbon, Ill.; sisters, Marian Price of Edwardsville, Ill., and Jeanette Reelitz of St. Louis, Mo.; grandchildren, Shana Calbreath of Milwaukee, Wis., Tiffany (Randy) Navin of Highland, Ill., Eric Calbreath of Fort Worth, Texas, Lauren (Krystian) Lozano of Nashville, Tenn., Erin Calbreath of St. Louis, Mo., and Taylor Martin of Glen Carbon, Ill.; great-grandchildren, Shelton Navin, Nolan Navin and Garrett Navin; many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at Kurrus Funeral Home in Belleville, Ill.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 6, 2014, at Kurrus Funeral Home with the Rev. Jeremy Drake officiating. Interment will follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Mo.
