Ronald L. Rea, 68, of Marine, Ill., born Feb. 20, 1946, in Gipsy, Mo., passed away at 5:28 p.m. Thursday, May 1, 2014, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, Ill.
Ronald was a retired operator for Shell & Conoco Phillips Refinery in Woodriver, Ill. He was a past Hollywood Heights volunteer fireman for many years. He was a member of the Woodriver Mason Lodge. Ronald enjoyed fishing and camping at Montauk with his family, and cruise vacations. He loved his canine companion, a Yorkie named Princess Buttercup.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Vesta, nee Meador, Rea; a brother, Charles Rea; and a sister, Ahmalee Cross.
Surviving are his wife, Jane, nee Althardt, Rea, whom he married on Oct. 18, 1969; four daughters, Kim (Alice) Rea of Glen Carbon, Ill., Kari (Marc) Jarlsberg of Belleville, Ill., Kelli (Josh) Miller of Troy, Ill., and Katie (Rick) Krueger of Marine, Ill.; seven grandchildren, Sadie, Madison, Ryan, Jason, Sarah, Nicholas and Jenna; a brother, Bob (Lois) Rea of South Roxana, Ill.; two sisters, Merlene Hill of Missouri, and Lorene (Glendale) Talley of Collinsville, Ill.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 5, 2014, at Barry Wilson Funeral Home, 2800 North Center Street, Maryville, Ill.
Funeral: Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at the funeral home with Rev. Randy Butler officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Lutheran Cemetery, Collinsville, Ill.
