June Wittlich

June Rowena Wittlich, nee Brooks, born June 7, 1914, in Patterson, Mo., passed away Monday, June 2, 2014, at her home in Belleville, Ill., at the age of 99.

After graduating from Arkansas State Teachers College in Conway, Ark., now the University of Central Arkansas, in 1935, she taught school for several years prior to her marriage to Henry J. "Hank" Wittlich on Feb. 14, 1943. June then worked as a bookkeeper in the family business, Hank's Tire Company, until she and Hank retired.

During the middle of her life, June enthusiastically traveled extensively throughout the United States and many other countries. She enjoyed many years of playing bridge with friends and euchre with her Wittlich family. Flower gardening and reading were also two of her passions.

When asked what she believed was the key to living a long and happy life, June said she always brought a good attitude to everything she did, and, therefore, always enjoyed herself. June was friendly towards everyone she met and will be remembered by all who knew her for her ready smile and laughter.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Henry "Hank" Wittlich, who died on August 6, 1995; their son, H. Jay Wittlich in 1978; her parents, William D. and Ada J., nee Cline, Brooks; and four brothers, Raymond, Clyde, Hugh, and Millard Brooks.

Surviving are her daughter, Nancy; and many Wittlich and Brooks nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul United Church of Christ or to the NFED (National Foundation for Ectodermal Dysplasia). Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.
