Charles Kujawski

Charles C. Kujawski, 92, of Swansea, Ill., born Sunday, Oct. 30, 1921, in East St. Louis, Ill., died Sunday, June 29, 2014, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Belleville, Ill.

Charlie retired as a Police Captain for East Saint Louis Police Department, was a member of Saint Henry Catholic Church Belleville, Ill.; the International Union of Operating Engineers #520; and the Polish American War Veterans. He was very active at church, loved to dance especially Polka's and was a former driver for Kurrus Funeral Home. He was a United States World War II Navy Veteran.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Agnes, nee Cobzina Kujawski; his parents, John and Victoria nee Zelechowska, Kujawski; and a sister, Mary Smith.

Surviving are his sons, John P. (Judy) Kujawski of St. Louis, Mo., and Charles C. (Mary) Kujawski Jr. of Hecker, Ill.; dear friend and partner, Helen O'Guin of Swansea, Ill.;

grandchildren, Charles (Jennifer) Kujawski of Hecker, Ill., Jennifer (Michael) Steinbaugh of Belleville, Ill., John Kujawski of St. Louis, Mo., Katy Kujawski (Larry Keller) of Boise, Idaho; great-grandchildren, Ashlyn Kujawski, Kylie Kujawski, Cadence Kujawski ; and a sister, Jane Budryk of Collinsville, Ill.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at Kurrus Funeral Home in Belleville, Ill.

Funeral: A funeral procession will leave at 9:45 a.m. Thursday, July 3, 2014, from Kurrus Funeral Home in Belleville, Ill. for a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian burial at Saint Henry Catholic Church in Belleville, Ill., with Rev. Kenneth York officiating. Interment will follow at St. Adalbert Cemetery, Fairview Height, Ill.
