Lena Vitale

Lena Inez Vitale, nee Finley, 100, of Granite City, Ill., formerly of Collinsville, Ill., born on Nov. 28, 1913, in Kennett, Mo., passed away Saturday, Aug. 9, 2014, at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, Ill.

Ms. Vitale was an inspector for George J. Mayer & Co. for 19 years. She was a member of St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Collinsville, Ill., a member of St. Peter & Paul Altar Society, and attended Holy Family Catholic Church, Granite City, Ill.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel F. Vitale, whom she married on Aug. 17, 1947, and who died Dec. 13, 2003; her parents, Allie and Hazel, nee Light, Finley; two brothers, Guy and Marshall "E.J." Finley; and two sisters, Aileen Casey and Burleen Edwards

Surviving are her son, Anthony Samuel Vitale of Granite City, Ill.; and two sisters, Fern Berry of Collinsville, Ill., and Patsy Jo Parker of Collinsville, Ill.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, August 12, 2014, at Herbert A. Kassly Funeral Home and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, August 13, 2014, at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Collinsville, Ill.

Funeral: Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, August 13, 2014, at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Collinsville, Ill., with Father John Beveridge officiating. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery, Collinsville, Ill.
