Irene Gamble Obituary
Irene C. Gamble, nee Weber, 96, of O'Fallon, Ill., born on Aug. 31, 1920 in East St. Louis, Ill., died Saturday, Dec. 17, 2016 at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, Ill.
Irene graduated from East St. Louis High School in 1938 and worked as a Personnel Manager for Sears and Roebuck in Fairview Heights, Ill., for over 30 years. She was an avid bowler, a member of Sears Retiree Club and served on the Belleville Mental Health Board. Irene was also a member of the United Methodist Church in O'Fallon, Ill. and loved the St. Louis Cardinals and was a Kurt Warner fan. Irene loved her family and was a good friend to many.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Allison Gamble; parents, Edward Frank and Olivia, nee Albers Weber; and siblings, Lester Weber, Earl Weber, Viola Sappington and Norman Weber.
Surviving are her children Patricia A. (Joseph) Siemer of St. Louis, Mo. and William (Debbie) Gamble of Bourbonnais, Ill.; grandchildren, Matthew J. Siemer, Suzanne P. (Eric) Kalinowski, Kaylee Gamble, Mindy Gamble, and Jase Gamble; and great grandchildren, Juliet, Molly and Cate Siemer and Will and Melanie Kalinowski. Irene is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorials may be made to National Breast Cancer Foundation, Belleville Mental Health Assoc. or to charity of your choice. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.kasslyfuneral.com.
Visitation: Friends may visit from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2016 at Kassly Mortuary, Fairview Heights, Ill.
Funeral: Funeral service will be held on at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2016 at Kassly Mortuary, Fairview Heights, Ill. Interment will be in Valhalla Gardens of Memory, Belleville, Ill.

Local National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association (NARFE) volunteers provide help in reporting the death of any federal civilian retiree or a retiree's spouse to proper authorities. They will explain the process as needed and if requested, can report the death to the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) for you. The NARFE Service Center is located in the Civilian Personnel Office, building 50, 201 W Winter St, Scott AFB. You may visit the Service Center on Tuesdays, 10AM to 2PM or call 618-256-9350. You may leave a voice mail message at other times and we will return your call the following Tuesday. I first met Irene in 1975 when they opened the Sears store at the new St. Clair Square. She was the only person transferred from the East St. Louis store, all the rest of us came from Belleville. She was the greatest Personnel Manage they ever had. That was before you became just a number. Back then we were family. Ran into here once in awhile down the years and she always had that smile. Will miss you Irene.
