Marvin Adrian Ten Kley, age 90, of Lynden formerly of Deming and Ferndale went to be with his Lord and Savior, Thursday, February 21, 2013 in Lynden. He was born July 12, 1922 in Sioux Center, Iowa to parents Gerrit and Cora (Van Hofwegen) Ten Kley, Sr.. Marvin married Henrietta Veenhof, September 10, 1942 in Edgerton, Minnesota. He was employed as a Public School Bus Driver for Lynden for many years and Cattle Hauler with Rod Ten Kley Livestock Hauling and most recent Commercial Fished in Alaska, Bristol Bay, Kvichack River with his son Doug and his wife Judy and family for many years. Marvin enjoyed carpentry, upholstery, vegetable gardening and wrote, printed and translated in various languages Gospel tracks with Maranatha Press, Inc. with his longtime friend Wilbur Langstraat and brothers Gerrit and Adrian, which were sent out Worldwide. Marvin was active at the Lighthouse Mission as a volunteer for over 50 years, and was very passionate for the "lost". He loved spending time with his family, camping, and family dinners. Marvin was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 70 years Henny, August 26, 2012, his parents, his son Michael D. Ten Kley, grandson Joe Ten Kley, infant great granddaughter and his siblings Edith Wensink, Dick and Adrian Ten Kley. He is survived by his children; Rod Ten Kley and wife Lori, Gary Ten Kley and wife Judy, Glen Ten Kley and wife Barbara, Marva Aase and husband Sig, Doug Ten Kley and wife Judy, daughter in-law Cheri (Ten Kley) Johnson; 21 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren and 11 great great grandchildren; sister, Carol Van Mersbergen and husband Marv; brothers, Gerrit Ten Kley, Jr. and his wife Marie, Clarence Ten Kley and his wife Fran and sister In-law Minnie Ten Kley; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. The family would like to thank the Staff of Lynden Manor and Hospice of Whatcom County for the loving care they gave to Marvin, it was greatly appreciated. A private family graveside service will be held at Ten Mile Cemetery, Lynden, WA. A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 9, 2013, 1:00 PM at Good News Fellowship Church, 1252 W. Dear family,
Your father has a special place in my heart. What a gentle, kind and tender man he was. He was my school bus driver from second grade until I graduated. Always a smile and a kind word. A great example of a follower of Christ. He had a long life and contributed much. I'm thinking of you all today.
