I too remember Joanne from our early days at Whatcom Community College. She was a mover and shaker and got lots done. She approached her work seriously but never took herself so seriously. We always worked hard but had a rollicking good time doing it. So sorry to hear the news of her passing.

It will definitely seem like someone is missing when I go to Lummi Island next. My father, John Curry, sold Joanne and Charlene the property close to the church probably 35 years ago and then Joanne watched my daughter several times when I had to work and had no babysitters. I know that she loved her brother"s children tremendously. My heart is heavy for your loss. I to will remember Joanne's laugh and the hugs we shared. May your sorrow be lightened with remembrance of good times, laughter, and love. Margaret

My thoughts and prayers go out to Chuck and Rita and all the Hammerbergs. I remember Joanne when she was a student at Augustana in Chicago so many years ago. Hard to believe our cousin is gone. How I remember her laugh.

When I began working at Whatcom Community College in the 70s, Joanne was one of the 1st people to make an impression on me. When I would hear her famous laugh, I always knew "something was up". When I hear Joanne's name, I smile.

Joanne and I worked at St. Luke's together many years ago. We had some really great social gatherings - she was a wonderful person.

So sorry to hear about Joanne's passing. She was a good Lummi Island friend. I enjoyed working with her at Bornstein Seafood several years ago, when she sold fish at the Farmers Market. Rest in peace.

From her time working at Whatcom Community College I recall Joanne as being quite a character. I always enjoyed hearing what she had to say!
