Doris (Irwin) Wright, 98, of Scottsdale, Arizona, died August 31, 2013. Mrs. Wright was born in Blaine, Washington on March 28, 1915. She grew up on the family farm on Bay Road and loved spending summer days at Birch Bay. After graduation from Blaine High School in 1933, she moved to Seattle, where she met and married John Edmund Wright of Omak, Washington in 1936. They lived in Seattle and Spokane before moving to Ogden, Utah in 1952. They lived in Tacoma, Washington for two years before moving to Arizona in 1962. During their 61 years of marriage prior to Ed's death in 1997, Doris was a homemaker, who later developed careers in interior decorating and real estate. While living in Scottsdale, Doris was active in politics, as well as a wide range of community organizations including Child Help and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. She is survived by her sister, Ethel Todd of Seattle; daughter, Robin, of Phoenix; sons John (Jay) Edmund, Jr. (Karren Kittel) of Sacramento and Jeffrey Paul (Janelle Leach) of Scottsdale, 7 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Services will be held at a later time.

We have received many cards and letters honoring Mom's life. They described her in many ways: fun loving, always so young, sweet, lived every day to the fullest, full of joy, had zing, made her own fun, and ahead of her time. She always got back up, and bounced back from adversity. And it was such a blessing that she went back to Birch Bay to sit by the water one last time for that week in August. It was a wonderful trip for her. Most people know that she had cards printed up saying "Expect a Miracle." She finally has the greatest miracle for herself. Some said that they know she and Ed are dancing in heaven, for eternity. I will miss you very much Mom. I'm glad that you are finally in God's peace, forever.

She was an amazing lady with a flair for fashion and an inventor's mind for business. She was also creative, open minded and extremely smart. We'll miss her dearly.

I remember Aunt Doris's Sister Anna may knitting a white ribbon dress with a coat to match for Aunt Doris to wear when she was campaigning for Goldwater.
I will miss hearing stories about my mother. You are going to be missed

We truly enjoyed our visit with Doris, at Birch Bay, in early August. She was happy to be at the "BAY", where, in her words, "the water was shining like
diamonds". Miss you aunt Doris. Love, Stan & Bev

How I will miss the memories of my mother which Aunt Doris shared with me over the many years, and the photos her with Ed and my mom and dad. She was the matron of honor and Ed was the best man at the wedding on the farm near Birch Bay. She will truly be missed.
